X10 switches, dimmers and lighting can be made smart using RFXCOM. The right RFXCOM module depends on the protocol and frequency used. For 433 MHz devices the RFX-433EMC is usually the right choice; for 868 MHz applications use the RFX-868. Always check the compatibility list and manuals for the exact protocol, pairing procedure and limitations.
RFXCOM acts as a bridge between existing wireless devices and modern smart-home software such as Home Assistant. Depending on the device, signals can be received, transmitted or both. With MQTT, supported devices can appear automatically through Auto Discovery.
